Talks to send Cano, Diaz to Mets gain traction

In Brodie Van Wagenen’s first month as general manager, the Mets are working toward a blockbuster trade that could change the face of the franchise. Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports was first to report on Thursday morning that there is “significant momentum” toward a trade between the Mets and Mariners that would send second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz to Queens. While Passan said there is “an increasing expectation” that a trade will be finalized, he stressed that a deal is not yet complete.
